OUR NEWEST ARRIVAL: SNOWBALL THE KITTEN

Snowball was brought to us as a tiny 6 - 7 weeks old kitten who was, apparently, sitting on someone's doorstep shivering and looking through their cat flap.
The little female kitten, too young to be away from her mother, pure white save for a black tail, was covered in flea dirt and a little thin. On inspection Snowball had a rectal prolapse leaving it almost impossible for her to go to the toilet without pushing her bowel further out. Clearly the serious condition hadn't received attention and it seemed that the adorable, tiny little kitten had generally been neglected.

It was a very odd story, Snowball wasn't feral and we feared for the rest of the litter but had no way of tracking them down. All we could do was to ask the people to bring any further kittens if they turned up.

Snowball was admitted to the vets and the procedure was performed the next morning. Our wonderful vet pushed Snowball's rectum back inside of her body and put a purse stitch around the tiny kittens anus to stop her bowl from being pushed out again. The vet fitted her with the tiniest buster collar to prevent her from pulling out the stitches and sent her home with all our fingers crossed.

All of this happened because of lack of worming which is so easy, simple and cheap!

Despite enduring such a horrible operation at such a young age Snowball remained undaunted and still attempted to play and do naughty kitten stuff with her 'lampshade' over her head.
