A massive ‘Thank you’ to our supporters.
Following a bout of bad weather in the autumn of 2006 the roof of our house was badly damaged. We had missing tiles leaving a gaping hole at the front of the property and loose, shifted slates just about everywhere else. It wasn’t looking good and when it rained it gave the place a wash both inside and out.
When we had to juggle vet bills and feed bills, the roof seemed to take a back seat. We went into denial and it wasn’t until the weather took a turn for the worse and the rain began to run down the inside of the walls downstairs that we were forced to act. There was no denying that we had a serious and potentially very expensive problem that was fast growing out of our control.
When funds were so limited and the animals needed to be fed, watered (even that’s not free!) and receive veterinary care our personal comfort took a back seat. But God bless our friends who thought differently. One of our supporters made a donation for a local builder to come and fix our roof - not cheap - and three gorgeous hunt saboteurs said, “No” to that and got up there for free. The boys are roofer/builders (see, sabs come in all shapes and sizes) and had the job done in a few hours.
So now we have a hole free roof and the original donation still intact. The vet will be happy to have a small percentage knocked off his bill as will the hay man. We are left with gladdened hearts to know that there are some wonderful people out there and we’re so lucky to have some fantastic friends.
