"A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral."

DOES MY BUM LOOK BIG IN THIS?

Those of you who read the Sunday People might well be familiar with the rather strange story of Billy, our resident parrot, and his mate, Solomon, the crow. Poor old Billy was either swiped from his native South America or so badly abused as to be terrified of mankind, full stop. He would panic when anyone approached his cage and crash to the back of it, squawking in terror.

Solomon came is a baby, earlier this year. His deformed foot, blue eyes, white streaking through his black feathers, gut infection and inability to feed himself made re-release, indeed survival, a very unlikely event. However, Solomon very much survived and thrived, possibly due to the interest that Billy took in him. Now the pair fly around the house together and are the best of buddies.

Billy is calmer and will happily land on your head, lap or, particularly, the edge of your dinner plate and has taught Solomon how to be a 1st class parrot! Solomon’s foot has, rather surprisingly given the level of deformity, straightened out and he’s fine now. He copies everything that Billy does and now we have double trouble!!

P.P.L.F. AT WORK

Once again, the P.P.L.F. (paddling pool liberation front) have been at it. Is nothing sacred, anymore!

Remember me?

What a difference a few months can make in the life of tiny, newborn baby. It’s hard for me to credit that the litter of rabbits that came in, not that long ago, that I was syringe feeding and keeping my fingers crossed for could grow up so fast and turn into this!? “Take my leaf and I’ll drop ya.” (left)

Now, that’s one fluffy bunny that you wouldn’t want to meet on a dark night! We plan to turn the entire garden over to them if anyone can help with the materials. Look at him, we dare not!!
